Xavier University has four resident halls. The Halls are St. Katharine Drexel, St. Michael, St. Martin dePorres and the Living Learning Center. The central office of each Hall is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by the following persons: Hall Director, Hall Advisors and Resident Assistants.
The policies of the Residence Halls are available in the Guide to Housing and Residence Life, also located on the Housing web page. To ensure the safety and security of the residents, a major priority of the housing staff is services, programs, and policies intended to enhance the quality of campus life.

Due to the limited availability of on-campus housing, it is necessary that we establish these guidelines for awarding contracts for these rooms. Local students who live within commuting distance of the campus and transfer students are of the lowest priority when assignments are made. The procedure is on a first-come, first-served basis using the date on which the Acceptance Deposit and Housing Application Forms are received. The Acceptance Deposit and Housing Application must be submitted in order for a student to be offered a housing contract.
Initial contracts to new fall term students will be issued by early April. Signed contracts with the required room reservation fee must be returned by the date indicated on the agreement. This fee is non-refundable.
This process is monitored closely. Therefore, students who do not return the contract within the allotted time will have their contract canceled and will be placed at the bottom of the waiting list.
Students admitted to the University have the option of making their own off-campus living arrangements in the event there are no vacancies on campus. The Housing Office may be able to give you some limited assistance or information regarding off-campus housing.
Special Note: Notice of cancellation to Admissions, Financial Aid, Fiscal Services, or the Registrars Office will not constitute notice of cancellation of your current Housing Agreement. The Office of Residential Education must be officially notified as indicated below.
CANCELLATION OF HOUSING: Current residents (including graduating seniors) who do not plan to return to campus housing for the upcoming semester or academic year must officially cancel their housing assignment to be eligible for a housing deposit refund.
To officially cancel housing, students are required to complete both of the following steps:
- Submit the Housing Cancellation Form through the Housing Portal.
- Send a confirmation email to reslife@xula.edu and bursar@xula.edu stating that:
- You are cancelling your campus housing, and
- You have completed the housing cancellation form in the Housing Portal.
Housing cancellations will not be considered complete until both steps have been successfully completed. Failure to do so may result in the housing assignment remaining active and additional charges being assessed.
Students who complete the cancellation process may be eligible to receive a $200 housing deposit refund, provided there are no outstanding or pending charges from the Office of Residential Life. Any applicable charges will be applied prior to the release of a refund.
*The $100 reservation fee paid as a new or transfer student is non-refundable.
Each residence hall is staffed 24/7 by a Hall Director, Security Concierge, and Resident Assistants to ensure a safe and supportive living environment. The Hall Director oversees hall operations, facilities coordination, and residential programming. The Security Concierge supports building operations and safety and reports to the Hall Director. Resident Assistants assist with community development, policy enforcement, and resident support under the supervision of the Hall Director and Security Concierge.
